Photoshop/Change the pixel dimensions of an image

Resizing an image in Photoshop:

  1. Go to Image > Image Size.

  2. To maintain the image's proportions, check the "Constrain Proportions" box. Adjusting one value will automatically update the other.

  3. Under "Pixel Dimensions", enter the desired values for Width and Height. You can use percentages of the original dimensions. The new file size will be displayed, with the original size in parentheses.

  4. Check the "Resample Image" box and choose an interpolation method.

  5. If your image has layers with styles, check "Scale Styles" to resize them along with the image. This option will only be available if "Constrain Proportions" is checked.

  6. Click "OK" to apply the changes.

Tips:

  • To reduce the file size of an image without losing too much quality, lower the resolution and apply the "Sharpen" filter.
  • To increase the size of an image, it is best to rescan it at a higher resolution.
